Dicemaster
The Dicemaster is one of those pieces of furniture whose importance comes almost entirely from what players did with it. Visually, it is a relatively small machine containing a large pixelated die. Its industrial-looking construction is deliberately functional, making it resemble a piece of equipment rather than decorative furniture. The machine was interactive: double-clicking it caused the die to roll and produce a number between one and six. That functionality made the Dicemaster enormously important during the era of Habbo casinos. Players commonly arranged several Dicemasters around a Majestic Chair so that the person sitting in the chair could operate them easily. This association became so strong that the Dicemaster was eventually among the furniture affected by Habbo's Gambling Ban. Its history therefore connects a seemingly insignificant piece of pixel furniture to one of the biggest cultural phenomena of early Habbo: the rise of player-created casinos and gambling rooms. It is a perfect example of why Habbopix should document not only what furniture looks like, but how the community actually used it.
