2025 · LEGACY In 2025, Habbo reached another extraordinary milestone: 25 years since the original Hotel opened its doors. A game that began as a small Finnish virtual hotel in 2000 had now survived an entire generation of internet culture. Flash had disappeared, Unity had replaced it, NFTs had come and gone through various stages of experimentation, and millions of pieces of furniture had been created along the way. Yet the Hotel was still there. And for its 25th anniversary, Habbo decided to celebrate by looking very deliberately at its own past. 🎂 Habbo turns 25 August 2025 brought the enormous Habbo Turns 25! campaign. The anniversary included classic games, special furniture, clothing, Wired activities and recoloured versions of older favourites. The campaign even brought back the Furni-Matic, one of the most recognisable systems from Habbo's earlier years. And then there was the obvious choice: 👑 The Throne The Throne had been one of Habbo's defining pieces of furniture since the early years of the Hotel. For the 25th anniversary, Habbo introduced a new black-and-gold version of the Throne. The choice was almost symbolic: take one of the furniture pieces most strongly associated with early Habbo and reinterpret it for the modern Hotel. The anniversary furniture also included a Pool Party collection, with items such as balloons, mocktail glasses and yacht pieces, including recolours of furniture originally associated with the 2012 Jetset campaign. That kind of reuse is actually fascinating from a furniture-history perspective. A 2012 furniture set wasn't simply forgotten. Thirteen years later, its visual language could be brought back and reinterpreted for a completely different generation of players. 🏨 Origins reaches its first anniversary While the main Hotel celebrated 25 years, Habbo Hotel: Origins celebrated something much more recent. Origins had launched in June 2024 as a recreation of the 2005-era Habbo experience. In June 2025, it reached its first anniversary. The community celebrated with a retrospective looking at the first year of the revived Hotel, including player-created events, competitions and new features. And Origins wasn't simply left frozen in 2005. During 2025, the team continued adding carefully selected improvements while trying to preserve the classic experience. By April, new windows and landscapes had been added following community voting, along with new moderation commands and other improvements. This is an interesting distinction: Origins isn't just an archive. It's a living recreation of an old version of Habbo. That's a really important difference for The Pixel Room. 🎮 Origins comes to Steam Then came another major step. In September 2025, Sulake announced that Habbo Hotel: Origins was coming to Steam. The move was intended to make the classic version much easier for new and returning players to discover. The Steam release followed in October 2025, bringing the 2005-inspired version of Habbo onto one of the world's biggest PC gaming platforms. So something that originally existed as a browser-based social game in the early 2000s had now travelled through: Shockwave → Flash → AIR → Unity → Origins → Steam That's an absolutely crazy technological journey for a pixel-art social game. 🪑 Meanwhile, the furniture machine never stopped The regular Hotel continued producing new furniture throughout 2025. The campaign calendar included: 🌿 Garden Sculptures 🇯🇵 Tokyo Gacha 👗 Habbo Fashion Month 🐇 Alice in Habboland 🇧🇷 Festa no Brasil 🛋️ Summer Hygge 🎂 Habbo Turns 25! 🏛️ Temple of Olympus 🕹️ The Last of the Pixels 🐾 Neopets 🎄 It's Christmas There were also partnerships with brands including Foot Locker, Bratz, Care Bears and Neopets, showing how Habbo furniture had continued to expand beyond the purely fictional worlds of its earlier years. And September's Temple of Olympus campaign is a great example of how much building had evolved. It included temple construction pieces, plinths, olive trees and flowers specifically designed to let players construct their own Greek temples. A room-building competition even rewarded builders with an exclusive Olympus Builder badge. So even after 25 years, the fundamental idea remained remarkably familiar: Give players pixels → let them build something with them. 🕰️ A quarter century of furniture And that's what makes 2025 such a satisfying point to reach in your timeline. Think about the furniture journey: 2000–2003 Small collections. Simple furniture. Players discovering what Habbo could be. 2004–2009 Rares, trading and the rise of iconic furniture like the Throne. 2010–2015 Wired, Builders Club and increasingly elaborate player-created rooms. 2016–2020 Huge campaigns, crafting, modern furniture design and the Flash era coming to an end. 2021–2023 Unity, Collectibles and experiments with digital ownership. 2024 Habbo actively revisits its own history. 2025 Habbo celebrates 25 years of that history. The most beautiful part is that the old furniture never completely disappeared. A piece designed in 2004 can still sit next to something released in 2025. A classic Throne can share a room with a modern campaign item. A furniture set created for the Flash era can coexist with something designed specifically for Unity. Twenty-five years of pixels can occupy the same room. And honestly, that's probably the perfect philosophy for The Pixel Room too.
