Golden Dragon Lamp

The Dragon Lamps arrived with Habbo's Version 7 era and marked a major change in the way rares were designed. Instead of simply introducing completely different objects, Habbo began creating families of furniture and releasing them in multiple colours. The original Golden, Silver and Bronze Dragon Lamps were distributed as competition prizes in 2004. Because they weren't ordinary catalogue items, they immediately entered the Hotel's economy as highly desirable Super Rares. The design itself helped enormously. A large golden dragon wrapped around an ornate lamp was almost tailor-made to become a status symbol. It looked expensive, dramatic and unmistakably rare. The Dragon Lamp family continued evolving long after its original release. The Fire Dragon became the first catalogue Dragon Lamp in 2005, while additional colours and redesigned versions appeared years later. New designs eventually included seasonal variants, Limited Edition versions and even a Diamond Dragon. That makes the Golden Dragon particularly interesting: it represents the beginning of an entire furniture dynasty, rather than simply being one rare item.
