Red Laser Door

The Red Laser Door is particularly interesting because it represents the point where furniture began becoming closely connected with Habbo's game and event culture. Originally part of the Donnie Santini: Space Explorer event and the Planet Universum storyline, the furniture was designed around a futuristic space theme. What looked like a simple decorative gate could therefore become part of a much larger themed experience. Later releases occurred across several hotels and through different promotions. On Habbo Finland, for example, it was sold in the catalogue in January 2008, while other hotels distributed it through competitions or special promotions. The wider Laser Gate family became heavily associated with mazes, games and interactive rooms. Their futuristic appearance made them useful for creating boundaries and entrances, while their event history gave them a connection to one of Habbo's recurring strengths: turning furniture into part of a story.
