Habbo Cola Machine
The Habbo Cola Machine is a particularly interesting piece because it replaced an earlier, much more controversial piece of branded furniture: the Mountain Dew Machine. Its sprite still carries the old internal name md_limukaappi, a reference to the Mountain Dew branding that originally occupied the same furniture concept. The Cola Machine began appearing in Habbo Hotels during 2005 and was eventually released across the majority of the different national Hotels. It was primarily sold through the catalogue, although it also appeared as part of Credit Action promotions on the Danish and Swedish Hotels. The machine was interactive, allowing players to obtain a Habbo Cola hand item from it. Its history is particularly interesting because it demonstrates how Habbo gradually moved away from some of its early real-world branding while retaining the underlying furniture designs. The result is a strange little piece of digital archaeology: the object looks like a normal Habbo vending machine, but its internal classname still preserves a trace of its Mountain Dew origins.
