Holoboy

The Holoboy belongs to one of the earliest chapters of Habbo furniture history. Originally called the Holopod, it was one of the first three rares given out for ione's birthday in 2002. The other two were the Throne and Russian Samovar, making the three items collectively known as ione's Gifts. What makes the Holoboy particularly interesting is that it was among the earliest animated furniture pieces developed by Sulake. At a time when most Habbo furniture was static, the holographic character immediately felt futuristic and unusual. The item also had an interesting difference between hotels. On many hotels it was eventually sold through the catalogue, sometimes for extremely short periods, while on Habbo UK it remained tied to the original birthday distribution. This helped create very different values between hotels. The Holoboy's history is therefore a good reminder that there was never one single Habbo furniture economy. Different hotels had different release schedules, promotions and opportunities, and those differences could dramatically change how valuable an item became.
