Speaker's Corner

Speaker's Corner is especially interesting for The Pixel Room because its story begins in Finland. The furniture first appeared on Habbo Finland and Habbo Sweden in August 2004 before eventually spreading to other hotels. On most hotels it was sold through the catalogue, while Australia awarded it as a competition prize. Its release history therefore looked very different depending on where a player lived. Then came one of the strangest chapters in its history. On Habbo UK, Speaker's Corner became involved in the Palsternakka credit exploit, during which thousands of copies were purchased. A similar incident occurred on Habbo Finland. Many of the players involved were banned, but the furniture itself remained in circulation. That changed the item's place in the rare economy permanently. It had originally been an expensive Super Rare, but the sudden increase in supply meant its rarity and value could no longer be considered in the same way. Its last global release was in 2008. For a Finnish Habbo veteran, this is exactly the kind of furniture story that makes an archive worthwhile: one piece of furniture, multiple hotels, completely different histories.
